Haaaappyyy (calendar) New Year, my mystical angels! I hope you’re strapped down and ready for, well… a new calendar year.
If you’ve been with me for a while you know the start of the year…happens a few times a year. Modernized New Years Eve, The Chinese New Year, Astrological New Year. Everywhere you look, a new time to be new.
Over the years I’ve had ever changing feelings around the New Years. Sometimes it feels magical, other times full of pressure, and other times I forget it’s even happening.
So I guess, the New Year is as meaningful as you make it. And isn’t that just how life is? As meaningful as we make it.
I mean, our culture is pushing us to find resolutions and rebirth in the dead of winter. DEAD OF WINTER.
If you’re feeling a certain way this New Year, I suggest you listen to it. Maybe you need more time to hibernate. That’s ok and in fact, astrologically, you’re supported.
It’s ok to feel dead, it’s part of the process to feeling alive. A reminder that you are changing because you feel different than you did when you felt alive and in the thick of it. Notice the difference. What is it telling you?
New beginnings can’t happen when still holding on to the past. And sometimes it takes a second to realize what parts need to die. Grieving is a process, winter is long. Don’t force its premature ending.
My advice?
Be kind to yourself, but be real. These next few seasons are full of opportunities for new beginnings.
So if you don’t feel like it now, maybe you will later.
If you feel like it now, maybe you won’t later.
Work with what energy works for you.
Let this new calendar year be a reminder that there are a million new chances along the way. Try now and then try something new later. The important part is that you give yourself the time and space to try. Decide how you want to try, how to inspire yourself and how to look forward into the future you.
I’ll be back next week with astrology for the month, but for now here is your New (fiscal) Year Tarot spread! Kiss Kiss
The thing about the dead of winter is, it will kill you. So get ready to get a little read down by the cards. But sometimes tough love is exactly what we need to wake us up from a winter hibernation.
Is this enough for me?
I’m being for real. Is this enough for you? This life? This love? This way you’re living?
The Queen of Swords tough, but nuturing-ly guides us to refocus in a painfully authentic way. She directs us forward with honesty, wisdom and most importantly, courage. It takes courage to be truthful with yourself. It’s simply the most vulnerable thing to do. This card, leading our reading, reminds us the we deserve the head chair at the table of our lives. Take the seat, my friend.
This message helps us understand what it feels like when something isn’t enough for us. Do we feel bored? Easily irritable? Feeling like people easily misunderstand you or aren’t seeing you the way you think you are?
Being comfortable is good, but not when it makes us stagnant, forgetting why we light up a room. Or why we’re excited to be in the room in the first place.
Two portal cards in this spread reminds us that there is a new way, once we are clear and well rested.
Be honest about how you have moved thru chaos this past year. In what ways did it work and in what ways didn’t it? How do we cut thru the chaos so we can meet our future self half way?
Let these hard inner truths speak you in the right direction for this new season of life. What wisdom do you have that surprises you?
Don’t rush through this part of the journey. Death is just as important as rebirth. Each a labor of love.
Happy New Year my sweets! See you later this week for some astrology for January. My tarot books are back open, so lets get you some clarity in this new year! Wishing you all the best and hoping you find courage whenever your New Year starts.
xoxo,
Kayla
